Below are transcripts of wills obtained from the Principal Probate Calendars. Where the will contains recent identifying information on living individuals, I have not given a full transcript although further details are available on request.

This is the last will and testament of me Alan Roy ELLETT of Horton Hospital, Epson in the County of Surrey Examining Professor of the Royal Schools of Music ("Associate Board".

1. I revoke all former wills and testamentary dispositions made by me.

2. I appoint my cousin Commander Edmond William Lockwood of Number 62 Hillcrest Gardens, Hinchley Wood in the Said County of Surrey to be the sole executer of this my will.

3. I give to David MacWilliams and John Hall both of Number 17 Harrington Road SW7 in Greater London the sum of five pounds (£5) each.

4. Subject to and after payment of my funeral and testamentary expenses and all death duties and legacies given by this will or any codicil hereto I give devise and bequeath all the residue of my estate both real and personal whatsoever and wheresoever not hereby or by any codicil hereto otherwise disposed of to my said cousin Edmond William Lockwood absolutely provided he shall survive me by one calendar month. Should my said Cousin predecease me or fail to survive me by one calendar month then I give devise and bequeath the residue of my estate as aforesaid and all intermediate income arising therefrom to Peter Lockwood the son of the said Commander Edmond William Lockwood absolutely.

This is the last will of Alfred Charles ELLETT of Cedar Croft Offwell Honiton Devon.

1. I hereby revoke all former wills and testamentary dispositions made by me.

2. I desire that my body be buried in the Grave of my late wife Gertrude Maud Ellett at St Mary's churchyard Offwell Honiton Devon

3. I appoint my daughter Grace Doreen Maud Carter and my son David George Ellett to be the executers and trustees of this my will or if either of them shall predecease me or renounce probate hereof or be unable to prove the same or die without having proved the same then I appoint the partners at the date of my death in the firm of Dunnings of 130 High Street Honiton Devon or the firm which at that date has succeeded to and carries on its practice to fill any vacancy in the office of executer or trustee hereof that may occur

4. I give free of all tax:-

a) to each of them my said daughter Grace Doreen Maud Carter and my said son David George Ellett the sum of one hundred pounds if they shall prove my will and act in the trusts hereof in addition to any other legacy or bequest which I may give to either of them by this my said will or by any codicil hereto

b) Fifty pounds to each of my grandchildren as shall survive me for thirty days and who have or shall attain the age of eighteen years

c) Fifty pounds to each of my greatgrandchildren as shall survive me for thirty days and who have or shall attain the age of eighteen years.

5. I give devise and bequeath the residue of my estate to such of them my said daughter Grace Doreen Maud Carter my said son David George Ellett and my son Gerald Charles John Ellett as shall survive me for thirty days and if more than one in equal shares provided always that if any of them shall not so survive me leaving issue who shall so survive me and attain the age of eighteen years such issue and if more than one equally between them per stirpes shall take his her or their parents share

6. That monies may be invested by my trustees in the same unrestricted manner as if they were the beneficial owners thereof whether or not producing income including the retention of any asset of my estate at my death.

7. Any executer or trustee being a solicitor or other person engaged in any profession or business may be so employed or act and shall be entitled to charge and be paid all professional or other charges for any business or act done by him or his firm in connection with proving my will and the trusts thereof including acts which a trustee could have done personally

8. No executer or trustee of this my will shall be liable for any loss not attributable to his own dishonesty or to the willful commission by him of an act known by him to be a breach of trust.

This is the last will and testament of me Alfred Samuel ELLETT 16 St James's Road Upper Tooting made this fourth day of January one thousand eight hundred and ninety two as follows I give devise and bequeath all my messuages lands tenements and hereditaments and all my household furniture ready money securities for money money secured by life assurance goods and chattels and all other my real and personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever unto my dear wife Susan Ellett her heirs executers administrators and assigns to and for her and their absolute use and benefit according to the nature and quality thereof respectively subject only to the payment of my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses and the charges of proving and registering this my will and I appoint my said wife executrix of this my will and hereby revoke all other wills IN WITNESS whereof I have hereunto set my hand this day and year above written - ALFRED SAMUEL ELLETT - signed and acknowledged by the testator Alfred Samuel Ellett as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us both present at the same time who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses Arthur Edwin Dobson - Walter Ernest Dobson. On the 19th day of June 1896 Probate of this will was granted to Susan Ellett widow the sole executrix.

This is the last will and testament of me Caroline Sarah Ellett of "Rosetta", Glyne Ascent, Bexhill on Sea in the County of Sussex. I appoint Elizabeth Emma Ellett of 56 Sykings Iver in the County of Buckingham Spinster to be the Executrix and Trustee of this my will. I give devise and bequeath all my real estate and the residue of my personal estate (after payment thereout of all my just debts and funeral and testamentary expenses) unto the said Elizabeth Emma Ellett for her absolute use and benefit. And I revoke all wills heretofore made by me. As witness my hand this twenty first day of October one thousand nine hundred and thirty seven.

This is the last will and testament of me Charles ELLETT of number 15 George Street in the Borough of Plymouth and County of Devon silversmith. I devise and bequeath all the Real and Personal Estate which shall belong to me at my decease unto and to the use of Robert Dunn of Plymouth - aforesaid Berlin Wool and Fancy Dealer and William Taylor Spearman of the same place Draper. As to the Real and Personal Estate not belonging to me beneficially upon trust to dispose thereof according to the equities affecting the same and as to the Real and Personal Estate belonging to me beneficially and which is hereinafter comprised under the denomination of my Trust Property upon trust to dispose thereof according to the directions hereinafter contained. That is to say as to the Household Furniture Place (not being part of my stock in trade but in household use) Linen China Books Prints Pictures Wines Liquors Fuel Consumable articles and other household effects of which is shall die possessed upon trust to deliver the same to my dear wife Mary Ann (a daughter of the said Robert Dunn) to whom I give the same absolutely and as to the residue of my Trust Property I direct that my Trustees shall at such time or times after my said wife shall die or marry again as having regard to the destination of my Trust Property under this my will they shall think expedient or during her widowhood with her written consent sell and convert into money my said Trust Property or any part or parts thereof and manage the affairs thereof generally at their discretion but subject to the directions herein contained. I direct that my trustees shall permit my said wife she continuing my widow to carry on the trade or business in which I shall be engaged at my death and for that purpose personally to occupy as her residence during the continuance of my Term and Interest therein the said house wherein I reside with the appurtenances or such other residence as at the time of my decease I shall be occupying for the purpose of my business or which shall be suitable for the same purpose and to use and employ such part of my Trust Property as shall be at the time of my decease used or employed therein with power for my trustees to increase or diminish at their discretion the trust property so used and employed and in the event of her dying marrying or declining to carry on such trade or business then my trustees if they shall think fit may in like manner carry on the same for such period as having regard to the directions herein contained concerning my trust property they shall judge expedient. But I hereby expressly exempt my said trustees from all liability to parties claiming under this my will in respect of the conduct and management of the said business while the same shall be carried on and conducted by my said wife. I direct that my trustees shall permit my wife she continuing my widow to receive from my death the net annual income actually produced by my trust property however constituted or invested and including the profits of my trade or business if carried on pursuant to the directions herein contained and that my said wife during her widowhood shall out of the income so to be received by her maintain educate and bring up during their respective minorities all my children including therein as well my son Charles Waters Ellett and my daughter Mary Waters Ellett (my children by my former deceased wife) as my children by my said present wife but my said trustees shall not be obliged to see this direction fulfilled. And I direct that when and as my said son Charles Waters Ellett and my said daughter Mary Waters Ellett shall attain their respective ages of twenty one years my said trustees shall (not withstanding any of the previous provisions or directions and with or without the consent of my said wife) raise out of my said Trust Property by such ways and means as they shall think fit and shall pay to each of my said two children the sum of Two Hundred and Fifty pounds sterling and that from and after the death or marriage of my said wife any said trustees shall subject to the preceding directions hold my said trust property upon trust for and to be equally divided between all my children by my said present wife who shall attain the age of twenty one years and if but one for that one absolutely I appoint the said Robert Dunn and William Taylor Spearman Executors of this my will. And I appoint my said wife she continuing my widow and after her decease or marriage the trustees or trustee for the time being of this my will to be guardian or guardians of the persons and estates of my children during their annuities. In witness thereof I have hereto set me hand this fifth day of July One Thousand eight Hundred and Sixty Four. Proved at Exeter the 21st day of January 1865 by the oaths of Robert Dunn and William Taylor Spearman the executors to whom administration was granted. The Testator Charles Ellett was late of No 15 George Street in the Borough of Plymouth in the County of Devon silversmith and died on the 24th day of November 1864 at no 15 George Street in Plymouth aforesaid. Under £3000.

On the  21st day of January 1885 the will of Charles ELLETT late of number 15 George Street in the Borough of Plymouth in the County of Devon Silversmith deceased, who died on the 24th day of November 1864 at number 15 George Street in Plymouth aforesaid was proved in the District Registry attached to Her Majesty's Court of Probate at Exeter by the oaths of Robert Dunn of Plymouth aforesaid Berlin Wool and Fancy Dealer, and William Taylor Spearman of the same place Draper, the executors therein named they having been first sworn duly to administer. Effects under £3000. No Leaseholds.

 

This is the last will and testament of me Charles ELLETT of Meonstoke in the county of Southampton farmer, I give to my dear wife all the household furniture and household effects in and about my dwellinghouse at the time of my death. Also the sum of fifty pounds absolutely to be paid to her as soon as possible after my death. I give devise and bequeath all the rest and residue of my estate whether real or personal unto my son in law Alfred Pratt grocer Henry Wooldridge of Meonstoke aforesaid yeoman and Henry Rowland Hurley of Bishops Waltham miller their heirs executors and administrators thereinafter called my trustees according to the natures and qualities of such estates respectively. Upon trust to sell my farming stock both live and dead and my farming business as they my said trustees shall in their absolute discretion think fit and as to all other my estate to sell or allow the same to remain in the same state of investment in which it may be at my death, as such trustees or trustee for the time being shall think fit and to pay the interest dividends and annual produce of my said general estate to my said wife for her life during widowhood and from and after her decease or marrying again to pay assign and transfer all such estate to my daughter Harriett the wife of the said Alfred Pratt absolutely to and for her own separate use, and whose receipt alone shall be a sufficient discharge for the ? and I appoint the said Alfred Pratt Henry Wooldridge and Henry Rowland Hurley executors of this my will and I give to each of them the sum of five pounds on their proving this my will and I direct that the power of appointing new trustees under this my will if necessary shall be and vest in my said wife during her life and widowhood in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this twenty eighth day of August One thousand eight hundred and seventy six.

 

This is the last will and testament of me Charles ELLETT of 177 Havelock Road, Brighton in the county of Sussex cooper made this seventeenth day of October one thousand nine hundred and twenty one I appoint my nephew Frank Dell son of my sister Elizabeth Dell executor and trustee of this my will. I bequeath to my friend George Charles Hall my diamond stud pin and my picture of Chingford Church free of duty. I bequeath an annuity of fifty two pounds a year to my wife Eliza Ellett to be payable during her life and to be paid in weekly sums of one pound. And I direct my trustee to set apart within twelve calendar months after my death in his name in any trustee security funds sufficient at the period of appropriation for answering the said annuity and in the meantime to pay the said annuity out of the residue of my estate and I declare that the said annuity shall be paid and delivered free of legacy duty and all other duty thereon imposed by authority of parliament or otherwise. I bequeath my leasehold premises No 18 Woodlands Road Littlehampton in the county of Sussex to my nephew Thomas Herbert Sapsed absolutely. I devise all the real and residue of the personal estate of or to which I may be seized or entitled respectively at the time of my decease inclusive of the funds to be set apart according to the aforesaid direction when the annuity payable thereout shall drop unto the said Frank Dell (hereinafter called my trustee) upon trust for my sister Elizabeth Dell and my nephew Charles John Shakespeare Ellett in equal shares and I declare that in the event of my said sister Elizabeth Dell dying in my lifetime then my trustee shall stand possessed of his share in my residuary estate upon trust for Charles Shakespeare Ellett on his attaining the age of twenty one years. I revoke all former wills codicils and testamentary instruments by me at any time heretofore made in witness whereof I do hereunto set my hand the day and year first above written.

On the 17th Day of December 1921 Probate of this will as granted to Frank Ellett Dell the sole executor.

 
This is the last will and testament of me Charles Denning ELLETT of 4 Elm Terrace, Clapper Lane, Honiton retired farmer.

1. I revoke all wills and codicils at any time heretofore made by me.

2. I appoint David Ellett of Beech Lea Offwell Devon and Desmond Carter of Malden 4 High Street Honiton Devon to be the executers and trustees of this my will.

3. I bequeath my personal chattels to my son Edward Frank Ellett.

4. I devise my freehold dwellinghouse No. 4 Elm Terrace, Clapper Lane, Honiton, Devon to my Trustees free of duty upon trust for sale with power to postpone the sale for such period as they shall think proper and I declare that no sale of the said dwellinghouse shall be made during the lifetime of my said son Edward Frank Ellett or his wife Rhoda May Ellett (during widowhood) without their consent and my trustees shall either allow my said son Edward Frank Ellett to occupy the said dwellinghouse or to enjoy the income from the proceeds of sale thereof during his life and from and after the death of my said son Edward Frank Ellett shall hold the said dwellinghouse or proceeds of sale thereof upon similar trusts for his wife the said Rhoda May Ellett except that such life interest shall terminate on her remarriage if this shall place and from and after the death of my said son Edward Frank Ellett and the death or remarriage of his wife the said Rhoda May Ellett my trustees shall hold the said dwellinghouse or the proceeds of sale thereof upon trust to divide the same equally between my grandchildren and great grandchildren born in my lifetime.

5. I devise and bequeath all the residue of my estate subject to the payment of my debts funeral and testamentary expenses legacies and death duties upon trust for my three sons the said Edward Frank Ellett Alfred Charles Ellett and Lewis Emmanuel Ellett or such of them as shall survive me in equal shares.

6. I declare that if any of my said three sons shall die in my lifetime leaving a child or children who shall survive me and live to attain the age of twenty one years then such child or children shall take and if more than one equally between them share in the residue for my estate which his or her or their parent would have taken had such parent survived me.

This is the last will and testament of me Charles G ELLETT of 44 Gap Road Wimbledon SW19 8JE in the County of London made this day of 29 July 1986. I hereby revoke all wills made by me at any time heretofore. I appoint James W Burnage to be my executer(s) and direct that all my debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon as conveniently may be after my decease.

Also I bequeath to my wife Matilda any monies due to me by the will of the late Eustace for her own use absolutely during her life and on her decease to my son Charles George Ellett my daughter Olive Mary Ison and my son Roy Ellett share and share alike. I Charles George ELLETT E.R.A of His Majesty's Ship P.612 Plmx at Y313 being of sound mind, do hereby make this my last will and testament. I give and bequeath unto my wife Lillian Ellett "Allasdale", Mc.Arthur St., Dunoon, Argyll all such wages, prize money, allowances and other sum or sums of money, as now are, or hereafter may be due to me for my service on board the said ship, or any other ship or vessel of the Royal Navy, together with all other my estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever And I do hereby appoint [left blank] executers of this my last will and testament, and hereby revoking all former wills by me made. This is the last will and testament of me Charles Henry ELLETT of 95 Hagley Road, Stourbridge in the County of Worcester Retired Coal Merchant.

1. I hereby revoke all former wills and testamentary dispositions heretofore made.

2. I appoint my sons Arthur George Ellett and Richard Claude Henry Ellett (hereinafter called "my trustees") to be the executers and trustees of this my will.

3. I give a legacy of Fifty pounds to each of my children Charles Henry Ellett, Elsie Farmer, Annie May Moss, Mary Porter and the said Arthur George Ellett Richard Claude Henry Ellett Violet Gulliford and Margery Woodhouse to my Grandson Charles Gulliford and the wife of my said son Arthur George Ellett.

4. I give to my trustees my dwellinghouse Number 95 Hagley Road Stourbridge aforesaid together with my furniture and effects of household use or ornament in and about the same upon trust to permit my wife Ada Ellett to reside in such house during her life and to have the use and enjoyment of such furniture and effects during her life and after her death the same shall pass to my son Arthur George Ellett and I direct that my said son Arthur George Ellett shall during the life of my said wife pay the General and Water rates and Fire insurance on the said property and furniture.

5. I give devise and bequeath all the residue of my real and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever after payment of my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses unto my Trustees upon trust to pay the income arising therefrom unto my said wife during her life and from and after her death I give a) A legacy of fifty pounds to each of the following the said Charles Henry Ellett Violet Gulliford and Margery Ellett b) all my property situate and being 95 Hagley Road Stourbridge and in Mount Street Stourbridge aforesaid unto my said son Arthur George Ellett absolutely together with a sum of one thousand pounds c) To pay the balance of my residuary estate between my said children the said Elsie Farmer Annie May Moss Mary Porter and Richard Claude Henry Ellett and my grandson Charles Gulliford in equal shares provided that if any of my said children shall predecease my said wife leaving issue living at my death such issue if and when they attain the age of twenty one years shall take by substitution and if more than one in equal shares the share which such deceased child would have taken had he or she survived me and attained the age of twenty one years.

6. I declare that all money to be invested under this my will shall be invested by my trustees in the same unrestricted manner as if my trustees were the beneficial owners of such money.

Caroline Sarah Ellett Maria Susannah Ellett and Mary Ann Ellett five pounds peverdase (?) mourning at my decease. I bequeath my silver horizontal (?) watch to my nephew Charles Ellett Lowe (?). I bequeath my silver level (or lever) watch to my nephew Frederick Samuel Ellett. I bequeath my gold albert chain and pair of gold solitaires scarf pins studs and wearing apparel to my brother Frederick Clement Ellett. I bequeath my two oil paintings of Dogs Head (?) to my sister in law Susan Ellett. I bequeath my relic (?) from (?) Pompeii (?) to my brother Clement Ambrose Ellett. I bequeath my two meerthaum (?) pipes gold scarf pin and two photographs in frames of my father and mother to my said sister Emma Elizabeth Lowe for her absolute use of. I bequeath my gold Gipsey (?) ring to William Henry Taylor of 39 Saint Eouoint (?) Street Holburn (?). I devise all my real estate whatsoever except what is otherwise disposed of by this my will unto my brother Alfred Samuel Ellett and my brother in law John Charles Lowe upon trust to sell the same in such manner as they shall think fit. I bequeath all the money securities for money goods chattels (?) merits (?) and personal estate of or to which I shall at my death be possessed or entitled to or over which at the time of my death have a general power of appointment or disposition by will except what that I otherwise dispose of by this my will upon trust call in sell out convert into money with parts thereof as shall not consist of money out. I declare that the said Alfred Samuel Ellett and John Charles Lowe and the survivor of them their heirs executers and administrators respectively shall out of the monies to arise from the sales and realisation of my said real and personal estates pay my funeral and testamentary debts and executers and the legacies bequeathed by this my will and shall invest the names or name of the said trustees or trustee in the public stocks or funds or government securities of the United Kingdom or ? ? shall pay the interest dividends and ? of the said residual monies out of the stocks funds or securities in or upon or into which the same of any part thereof may be invested to my said mother Sarah Ellett and my said sisters Caroline Sarah Ellett, Maria Susannah Ellett and Mary Ann Ellett during the lifetime of my said mother in equal shares and independently (?) of their respective husbands if any and after the death of my said mother shall stand possessed of the said monies stocks funds or securities and the dividends ? and interest thereof for trust as to fifty pounds part thereof for my said sister Emma Elizabeth Lowe absolutely. And as to the residue of the said monies for trust for my said sisters Caroline Sarah Ellett, Maria Susannah Ellett and Mary Ann Ellett in equal shares. And in the event of the death of either of them in my lifetime then in trust for the survivors or survivor of them in like manner for their own absolute use and benefit. And I declare that my said trustees shall have power in the discretion to postpone the said sales and conversion of the said estates for so long as they may think fit and advantageous to my estate and shall have full power to leave all or any part of my capital and share in the trade or business now carried out by me in co-partnership with my brother Frederick Clement Ellett. Upon the same ? as to interest and participation in profits as shall be in force at the time of my death or upon any other terms in relation thereto and also upon any terms as to supervision ? security or otherwise which the said trustees shall approve. And I hereby appoint the said Alfred Samuel Ellett and John Charles Lowe executers and trustees hereof ? ? whereof I the said Charles James Ellett have hereunto set my hand this fifteenth day of April in the year of our God One thousand eight hundred and seventy three.

This is the last will of me, Charles Jasper Ellett, of 71 Dumfries Street, Wellington Street, Luton, Bedfordshire.

1. I revoke all former testamentary dispositions made by me.

2. In this my will the expression "my trustees" shall where the context so admits mean and include the Executor(s) and Trustee(s) for the time being and from time to time hereof.

3. I appoint the partners at the date of my death in the firm of Hawkins Russell Jones of 7/8 Portmill Lane, Hitchin, Hertfordshire or the firm which at that date has succeeded to and carries on its practice and Marjorie Wiggins of 4a Farley Hill, Luton, Bedfordshire to be the Executors and Trustees of this my will and I express the wish that not more than two of the said partners shall prove this my will and act initially jointly with the said Marjorie Wiggins in its trusts.

4. I express the wish that my body be cremated.

5. I give all my personal chattels as defined in section 55 (1) (x) of the Administration of Estates Act 1925 absolutely to such of the said Marjorie Wiggins and Dorothy Wiggins 4 Farley Hill Luton aforesaid as shall survive me and if both then equally between them.

6. I give devise and bequeath the whole of my estate unto my trustees upon trust (with power to retain it or sell it) to hold the same upon the trusts and with and subject to the powers and provisions hereafter declared.

7. My trustees shall stand possessed of my estate upon trust to pay all my debts funeral and testamentary expenses and subject thereto the remainder of my estate (my residuary estate) shall be held upon trust to divide the same into five equal shares (and the word share of shares in this clause shall always be read as referring to such equal shares) and to hold such equal shares in trust as follows:

a) as to two shares for my son Charles John Richard Ellett of 44 Station Street, Bonnells Bay Lake Macquarie New South Wales 2264 Australia absolutely

b) as to one share for Doris Ellett of 13 Shaftesbury Road Bridlington East Yorkshire absolutely

c) as to one share for the said Dorothy Wiggins absolutely

d) as to one share for the said Marjorie Wiggins absolutely

and in each case provided he or she shall survive me and in that event absolutely provided that if any of the trusts above declared shall fail then the share of shares as to which the said trusts shall fail (including any chare or shares accruing by virtue of this provision) shall accrue to and be added equally to the other shares hereby given and be held in trust accordingly.

8. Any executer or trustee of this my will being engaged in any profession or business shall be entitled to charge and be paid for fees for work done by him or his firm on the same basis as if he were not one of my executers but employed to act on behalf of my executers.

9. My trustees shall have the power at any time or times to exercise the power of appropriation conferred upon a personal representative by section 41 of the Administration of Estates Act 1925 without obtaining any of the consents required by that section notwithstanding the fact that any executer or trustee is beneficially interested.

10. The statutory and equitable rules of apportionment shall not apply hereto and my trustees shall be permitted to treat all dividends and other payments in the nature of income received by them as income at the date of receipt irrespective of the period for which the dividend or other income is payable.

11. Notwithstanding any rule of law or equity to the contrary all debts legacies and other liabilities payable out of my residuary estate shall as between the persons beneficially interested therein be treated as paid entirely out of capital.

12. Any person living at my death who does not survive me by at least thirty days shall be deemed to have predeceased me for the purpose of ascertaining the devolution of my estate.

This is the last will and testament of me Charles Waters ELLETT of 13 Aymer Road Hove in the county of Sussex. I appoint my wife Alice Ellett the sole executrix of this my will and I direct her to pay my funeral and testamentary expenses and all my just debts as soon as conveniently may be after my decease and subject thereto I give the following pecuniary legacies to my stepbrother George Ellett the sum of two hundred pounds and to my stepsister Elizabeth Ellett the sum of two hundred pounds and I declare that both of the foregoing legacies shall be paid free of any legacy duty. I give devise and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my property both real and personal and wheresoever situate unto my wife the said Alice Ellett for her own use and benefit absolutely. Lastly I hereby revoke all wills and testamentary dispositions at any time heretofore made by me and declare this to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand to this my will the fourth day of October one thousand nine hundred and eleven.

I appoint my daughter Mary Edith Ellett and Leslie Ernest England of 7 South Quay Great Yarmouth aforesaid (hereinafter called my trustees) to be the executrix executer and trustees of this my will.

I devise my dwellinghouse and premises situate and known as number 109 Wellesley Road Great Yarmouth aforesaid and I bequeath my furniture and effects of household use or ornament therein or belonging thereto (save and except such of the same as may be otherwise specifically disposed of by this my will or any codicil hereto) to my daughter the said Mary Edith Ellett absolutely free of duty.

Subject to the payment of my funeral and testamentary expenses death duties and debts I devise and bequeath all the real and personal estate not hereby or by any codicil hereto otherwise specifically disposed of and which I can dispose of by will in any manner I think proper either as beneficially entitled thereto or under any general power unto my trustees upon trust to sell the said real estate and call in sell and convert into money such part of my personal estate as does not consist of money with power to postpone such sale and conversion for such a period as my trustees without being liable to account may think proper and shall out of the money to arise from the sale and conversion of my said real and personal estate and out of my ready money pay my funeral and testamentary expenses death duties and debts and shall stand possessed of the residue thereof upon trust for and I hereby give and bequeath the same unto my son David James Ellett and my daughters the said Mary Edith Ellett Diana Elizabeth Barber and Ruth Olive Uden in equal shares

And I declare that any executer or trustee of this my will being a solicitor or other person engaged in any profession or business may be so employed or act and shall be entitled to charge and be paid all professional or other charges for any business or act done by him or his firm in connection with the trusts hereof including acts which a trustee could have done personally.

1. I hereby revoke all former wills and testamentary dispositions made by me.

2. I appoint the firm of Avery Son and Fairbarin of 549 High Road Tottenham N17 acting through any partner or partners in the firm at the date of my death (not exceeding two in number) to be the executers of this my will.

3. I give devise and bequeath all my real and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever after payment thereout of my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts unto such of them my nephew Eric Richard Ellett of 96 Hainault Road Leyton E11, my niece Rose Foley of 16 Gladstone House Saddlers Close Mitcham Surrey and my niece Hilda Margaret Groves of 20 Norton Crescent Towchester Northampton as shall be living at my death and if more than one in equal shares for their own use and benefit absolutely.

4. Any executer of this my will being a person engaged in any profession or business shall be entitled to charge and be paid all usual professional or other changes for business transacted time expended and acts done by him or his firm or company or any partner or employee in connection with the administration of my estate including acts which an executor not being in any profession or business could or might have done personally.

5. I desire my body to be cremated

This is the last will and testament of me Emanuel ELLETT of Liverton Farm in the parish of Littleham in the County of Devon Yeoman. I hereby revoke all former wills and testamentary dispositions by me at any time heretofore made. I appoint my dear wife Emma Ellett and my friends Zacharias Paul of Woodlands in the parish of Littleham aforesaid Yeoman and Henry Bickley of Budleigh Salterton Devon Butcher (hereinafter called "my trustees") to be the executrix and executers and trustees of this my will and I give to them the sum of ten pounds each for their trouble in acting as such Executers and Trustees. I give all my place and plated articles linen china books pictures prints furniture and other household effects to my said wife Emma Ellett absolutely. I also give to her the sum of one hundred pounds to be paid within one calendar month after my death. I give the following legacies - to my five children Edwin George, Julia Gertrude, John, Charles Denning and Susan Elizabeth the sum of Two hundred and fifty pounds each (my son William Thomas having already been given cash farming stock and effects to that amount). And I declare that the said respective legacies to my said five children shall be paid to them on the days of their respective marriage or on the day or days on which they shall respectively cease to reside with my said wife and cease to assist her on carrying on the farming business at Liverton Farm aforesaid or on the day on which my said wife shall cease to carry on the said farming business whichever event shall first happen. And I also declare that so long as my said five children or any or either of them shall continue to reside with my said wife and shall assist her in carrying on the said farming business as aforesaid and the said respective legacies shall not have been paid then such of the respective legacies so remaining unpaid shall carry interest and the said respective legatees shall be paid interest on such legacies at four pounds per centum per annum commencing from the expiration of six calendar months next after my death until paid. I empower my Trustees to permit my personal estate invested at my decease in or upon any stocks fund shares or securities whatsoever yielding interest to continue in the same state of investment so long as they shall think fit. I give all the residue of my property estate and effects both real and personal unto my Trustees. Upon the trusts and with and subject to the powers and provisions hereinafter declared concerning the same that is to say upon Trust that my trustees shall permit and allow my said wife to continue to carry on the business of farmer now carried on by me at Liverton Farm aforesaid for so long as she shall think fit or to discontinue the same at any time and to wind up the affairs thereof with liberty for my trustees if and so long as they shall continue the business to use and employ in the said business and part of my residuary estate or the proceeds thereof as they may think proper and with liberty also to employ any or either of my children now living with me to assist my said wife in the management and carrying on the said business an to pay and to allow to them such salaries and wages and annually to conduct and carry on the said business in such manner as my Trustees shall think fit for the use and benefit of my said wife and subject to the direction hereinbefore contained in relation to the carrying on of the said business by my said wife. I direct that my trustees shall sell and convert into money my real estate and residual personal estate (but not the stocks funds shares or securities existing at my death) or such part thereof as shall not consist of money and shall out of the monies to arise from such sale and conversion and out of my ready money pay my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts and the legacies hereby bequeathed and shall invest the residue of the said monies with power to vary the investments thereof and I further declare that during the life of my said wife my Trustees shall pay o permit the income of my residuary estate or the investments or the time being representing the same (including as part of such income the profits arising from the said business) and all investments to be received by my said wife during her life for her own use and I further declare that when and so soon as my said wife shall cease to carry on the said farming business as aforesaid my Trustees shall stand possessed of my residuary estate (including the proceeds of the aforementioned business and investments) in trust to pay or to permit my said wife to receive the annual income thereof during her life and subject thereto in trust or all my children (including my said son William Thomas) who being sons have all attained the age of twenty one years or being daughters have attained or shall attain that age or shall marry under that age in equal shares and if there shall be only one such child the whole to be in trust for that one child. Provided always that if any child of mine shall die in my lifetime or the lifetime of my said wife leaving a child or children who shall survive me or my said wife and being a son or sons shall attain the age of twenty one years or being a daughter or daughters shall attain that age or marry under that age then and in every such case the last mentioned child or children shall take (and if more than one equally between them) the share which his her or their parent would have taken of and in the residuary trust funds if such parent had survived me and my said wife and attained the age of twenty one years. And I declare that my Trustees may postpone the sale and conversion of any part of my real and personal estate for so long as they shall think fit and in the meantime to let or demise any real estate including chattels real for any term of years not exceeding twenty one years to take effect in possession of such rent and subject to such covenants and conditions as my Trustees shall think fit. And I declare that all moneys liable to be invested under this my will may be invested in any stocks funds or securities authorised by law for Trust funds or in the purchase of inscribed stock of any British Colony or on mortgage of any leasehold houses or land in England or Wales held for any term having sixty years to sum  at the time of the investment. In witness whereof I have set my hand to this my will this Twentieth day of March One Thousand Nine Hundred and Three. Be it known that at the date hereunder written, Letters of Administration of the personal estate of Emma Elizabeth ELLETT (wife of Charles ELLETT) late of No 9 Louisa Street Stepney in the County of Middlesex deceased who died on the 20th day of January 1873 at No 9 Louisa Street aforesaid intestate, were granted by Her Majesty's High Court of Justice at the Principal Registry of the Probate Division thereof to the said Charles Ellett of No 7 Whitethorn Street Devon Road Bromley by Bow in the same County Carpenter the lawful husband of the said intestate he having been first sworn well and faithfully to administer the same. The remainder of my money to be divided between my niece Hilda M Dixon, & my nephews Samuel John William & Peter Ellett. My furniture and personal things I leave to Hilda Mary Dixon and Harriet E Ellett and Emeley (?) M Ellett to dispose of as they wish. Also £20 each to Emeline ? Ellett and Hartie L Ellett.

1. I appoint my daughters Enid Pamela Ross the wife of Harry Ross of 57 Longland Road Wallasey in the County of Cheshire and Molly Patricia Cowdrey the wife of Alan Cowdrey of 22 Guildford Road Worthing aforesaid to be the executrices of this my will.

2. I desire that my body shall be cremated and my ashes scattered in the Garden of Remembrance.

3. I hereby revoke all former wills and testamentary dispositions heretofore made by me and declare this to be my last will and testament. I appoint Midland Bank Executer and Trustee Company Limited (hereinafter called "the company") Executer and Trustee of this my will upon the conditions (except as regards remuneration) specified in the Company's handbook in use at the date hereof. And I declare that the company shall be entitled to remuneration in accordance with such scale of fees of the company as may be published and in force at the date of my death which remuneration shall be payable (without abartement?) out of income or capital or both as such ? may provide and be chargeable accordingly for all purposes of my will and shall be free of duties and be payable in addition to any customary charge of brokerage. And I desire that the firm of H.Montlake and co. of 247 High Road, Ilford, Essex shall be employed as solicitors in connection with my estate unless the company sees reason to the contrary. I give devise and bequeath to my son George Ernest Ellett of 8 (or 6) Langham Drive, Barley Lane, Goodmayes in the County of Essex my freehold premises known as No 10 Wallington Road, Seven Kings, Ilford in the County of Essex together with my two sea chests now there and the contents thereof. I give devise and bequeath all the rest and residue of my estate of whatsoever nature and wheresoever situate to my wife Bertha Hilda Ellett of 10 Wallington Road aforesaid absolutely.

I give devise and bequeath to my said trustee all my interest in the leasehold premises 30 Southampton Row W.C also all the money standing to my credit at the Central Building Society or elsewhere and all the credits and personal estate of or to which I shall at my death be possessed or entitled to or over which I shall at the time of my death have a general power of appointment or disposition by will (except what I otherwise dispose of by this my will) upon trust that he may sell and convert into money and get in the same with full power to delay such sale or conversion at his discretion as long as he shall think proper and shall stand possessed of the proceeds of such sale or conversion upon trust. And I declare that my said trustee shall out of the money to arise from the sale of my said real and personal estate pay my funeral and testamentary expenses and shall invest the remainder of the money arising from such sale in the purchase of a British Government or Post Office Annuity payable to my wife Mary E Ellett.

I devise and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my real and personal estate unto the said George Hardy Harris and Henry William Crews (hereinafter called my trustees) upon trust that my trustees shall as and when they may think fit and in such manners as shall seem to them best sell call in and convert into money such part thereof as shall not consist of money and shall with and out of the moneys produced by such sale calling in and conversion and with and out of my ready money pay my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts and the legacies bequeathed by this my will or any codicil thereto. And shall invest the residue of the said monies in any stocks funds or securities authorised by law for the investment of trust funds with power at their discretion to vary such investments as they may think fit and shall stand possessed of the said residuary trust monies and of such part of my estate as shall not be converted and the investments for the time being representing such part as shall have been converted (all of which are hereinafter called "my residuary trust funds"). In trust to pay the income thereof to my son Edwin Ellett during his life or until he shall become bankrupt or execute any deed or other inducement or assignment of his property for the benefit of his creditors or do or suffer and act whereby his estate shall become bested in his creditors or any other person on their behalf. And after the death of my said son or on the determination of his life estate by any other means upon trust as to one third part of my residuary trust funds for my grandson George Henry Ellett absolutely. And as to one other third part for my granddaughter Olive Ellett absolutely. And as to the remaining third part thereof upon trust that my trustees shall in their absolute discretion from time to time during the life of my grandson Horace Ellett or during such shorter period or periods either continuous or discontinuous as they shall think fit pay all or any part of the income of this one third part of my residuary trust funds and the investments thereof or if they shall from time to time think fit the whole or any part of the capital thereof unto or apply the same for the maintenance and personal support or benefit of the other or others of the following persons namely the said Horace Ellett and his wife if any and his children or wider issue for the time being in existence whether minors or adults and the other person or persons for the time being entitled to or interested whether absolutely contingently or otherwise in this one third part of my residuary trust funds or any part thereof under the trustees herein contained to take effect after the death of the said Horace Ellett in such proportions and manner as my trustees shall in their absolute and uncontrolled discretion from time to time think proper and subject to the discretionary trust or power lastly hereintofore contained shall hold the said income or so much thereof as shall to be applied under such discretionary trust or power upon the trusts and for the purposes upon and for which the said income would for the time being be held if the said Horace Ellett were then dead. And after the death of the said Horace Ellett shall hold this one third part of my residuary trust funds or such part thereof as shall remain undisposed of in trust for all or any the children or child of the said Horace Ellett who being a son or sons attain the age of twenty one years or being a daughter or daughters attain that age or marry if more than one in equal shares and if there shall be no such children or child of the said Horace Ellett then in trust for the George Henry Ellett absolutely provided always that if the said George Henry Ellett shall die in my or his father's lifetime leaving a child or children him surviving who being sons shall attain the age of twenty one years or being daughters or a daughter shall attain that age or marry then the last mentioned child or children shall take the shares and interests which his her or their parent would have taken of and in the residuary trust funds if such parent had been living at the time of the vesting of such shares and interests respectively. And subject to the aforesaid trusts I declare that my trustees shall stand possessed of my residuary trust funds or such part thereof as shall remain undisposed of upon trust for my said son Edwin Ellett absolutely. And I declare that my trustees may with the consent in writing of my son during his life and after his decease at their own discretion raise any part or parts not exceeding together one moiety of the vested or presumptive share of any grandchild or great grandchild or mine under this will and apply the same for his or her benefit advancement or preferment as my trustees may think fit. And I also declare that my trustees may postpone the same and conversion of nay part of my real or personal estate for such time as they may think fit and that the rents profits and income to accrue from and after my decease of and from such part thereof as shall for the time being remain unsold and unconverted shall after payment thereout of all incidental expenses and outgoings be paid and applied to the person or persons and in the manner to whom and in which the income of the proceeds of such sale and conversion would for the time being be payable or applicable under this my will as if such sale and conversion had been actually made. And I also declare that as regards any real or leasehold property remaining unsold my trustees shall be at liberty to let or demise the same either from year to year or for any term of years at such rent and subject to such covenants and conditions as they shall think fit and to expend money in the repair and improvement and generally to manage the property according to their discretion. And I declare that the power of appointing new trustees conferred by statute shall for the purposes of this my will be vested in the survivor of my trustees of the legal personal representatives of such survivor. And I also declare that the executers and trustees for the time being of this my will may instead of acting personally employ and pay a solicitor or other person to transact any business or do any act required to be done in connection with the administration of my estate or the trusts hereby declared including the receipt and payment of money and that any executor or trustee being a solicitor or any person engaged in any profession or business may be so employed and shall be entitled to charge and be paid all professional or other charges for any business or act done by him or his firm in connection with the trust including any act to which an executer or trustee not being a solicitor or other person engaged as aforesaid could have done personally. And I declare that it shall be lawful for my trustees to permit the whole or any part of my residuary trust funds to remain invested on the same securities or investments as the same shall be at the time of my decease and that my trustees shall not be liable or accountable for any loss which may occur by reason thereof. And lastly revoking all former wills by me heretofore made I declare this to be my only true last will and testament. In testimony whereof I have to this my last will and testament contained on four sheets of paper hereunto set my hand this first day of March 1910.

This is a codicil to the last will and testament of me George Ellett of Exmouth in the County of Devon merchant. I devise and bequeath to my grandson George Henry Ellett the house in which he is now residing known as Number 3 Gertrude Terrace, Exmouth. I bequeath to my housekeeper Alice Martha Luxon the sum of one hundred pounds in addition to the sum of three hundred pounds bequeathed to her by my will. I bequeath to George Willis Matthew of Exmouth shipbroker the sum of One hundred pounds in addition to the legacies bequeathed to him by my said will. I bequeath one hundred pounds to my sister Emma Ellett widow of the late Emanuel Ellett. I direct that my trustees shall as far as possible pay and discharge all legacy succession or other duties payable under my will or any codicil thereto by sales so far as they are able to effect the same at fair market prices of Debentures and stock held by me in the Devon Dock Pier and Steamship Company Limited. I direct that my trustees shall so long as they shall hold any of my debentures or stock in the said Devon Dock Pier and Steamship Company Limited be entitled to vote in respect of the same at any shareholders meeting of the said company and to exercise all rights as shareholders in the said company as in their absolute discretion they shall think fit and proper without having regard in anyway to the wishes or opinions of any person or persons entitled to the income thereof or interested in the same. In all other respects I confirm my said will. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 5th day of October 1910.

This is a codicil to the last will and testament of me George Ellett of Exmouth in the County of Devon merchant. I bequeath to the executers named in my will all my silver silver plate jewellery trinkets pictures china and personal belongings to be disposed of by them amongst the members of my family in their absolute discretion. I give devise and bequeath all my property not hereinbefore otherwise disposed of unto my Trustees upon trust to sell the same (with powers to postpone the same) and out of the monies to arise from such sale to pay my funeral and testamentary expenses death duties debts and legacies and to hold the residue of the said proceeds of sale upon trust for such of themselves the said Robert George Ellett and Helen Ellett as shall survive me if more than one in equal shares absolutely.

And I direct that during the minority of my said son my wife shall place the money secured by such policy in the North Eastern Bank of Deposits at Newcastle with power and I hereby authorise my said wife in her discretion to apply any part or parts thereof for the benefit or advancement in the world of my said son during his minority. I give and bequeath to my sister in law Judith Dalton the sum of ten pounds. I give and bequeath unto my said wife (after payment of my debts funeral and testamentary expenses) all the residue and remainder of my personal estate household furniture, plate, linen and musical instruments, money and securities for money, shares in mining and Railway companies and Building Societies also my life policy for one hundred and ten pounds in the Clerks Provident Society and whatever amount may be added thereto by the Railway benevolent Institution after any benefits the latter institution may think me entitled to at the time of my decease for her own absolute use and benefit. And I charge my said wife to give my son Ernest James a thorough sound education. I appoint my said wife executer of this my will and I declare that her receipts shall be good on discharge to all persons paying money by virtue hereof. Lastly I revoke all former wills. I James Ellett of Croydon in the County of Surrey Laborer do declare this to be my last will and testament. I give and bequeath all my personal estate such as money and every thing that I now have belonging to me or may hereafter be entitled to, to my grandson Henry John Tagg for his sole and separate use or if he was to die the same shall be equally divided between his lawful brothers and sisters now living and I also appoint his mother Eliza Tagg executer of this my will. In witness whereof I have hereunto signed my name this first day of May 1877.

I make this my will that after all my just debts and funeral expenses are paid the aforesaid Henry John Tagg is to receive all this my will specify within fourteen days after my death. I have hereunto signed my name the sixth day of May 1877.

I give all other my personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever unto and equally between the following parties names To my son Joseph Ellett of Kingston To my said wife Mary Ellett also to her children Mary Ellett now aged four years on her attaining 21 Also to my daughter Emily Hopkins Also to my daughter Ellen Pearce, And I hereby direct that if my said child Mary Ellett shall die before she attains 21 then her share to be divided between my said wife and my other three children in equal shares but the income thereof shall be applied for her benefit during her life or until she attains 21. And I appoint my said son Joseph and my friend Edmund Morris Executers hereof. As witness my hand this thirty first day of March 1900.

In the event of my dying without leaving any child or children who shall attain a vested interest in my estate and in the event of my mother predeceasing me I give devise and bequeath all my real and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever to such of my nephews and nieces as shall be living at the date of my death and attain the age of twenty one years and if more than one in equal shares as tenants in common absolutely.

5. I declare that the form of Messrs. Forrester and Forrester of Malmesbury and Chippenham in the county of Wilts shall be employed as solicitors in connection with my estate with power for the Bank and any other Executer or Trustee of this my will at their discretion to consult any other Solicitor or Solicitors if they think fit. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this eighteenth day of February one thousand nine hundred and forty four.

This is the last will and testament of me Robert Ellett of Northwold in the County of Norfolk Farmer. I appoint my dear wife Elizabeth during her widowhood and my two sons Robert and James Executers of this my will and guardians of my daughters during their respective minorities. I empower my said wife and my said two sons and the survivors or survivor of these (hereinafter called my trustees) to carry on my farming business during the widowhood of my said wife and for that purpose to continue tenants of any farm which I may occupy at the time of my decease or to hire and use any other farm and to employ therein my live and dead agricultural stock and such part of my personal stock as they shall think fit. And I also empower my trustees to manage my personal estate generally in such manner as shall appear to them to be most advantageous with liberty at their discretion where to permit it to continue in the state in which it shall be found at my death or to ? and invest the proceeds in their names upon any stocks funds or securities and to vary the investment when and as they shall think fit. I give to my said wife during her widowhood all the income of so much of my personal estate as shall be in anywise employed or invested (inclusive of the profits of the said farming business). And also the use of the residue thereof but charged with the maintenance education and bringing up in a manner suitable to their station in life of such of my four daughters as for the time being shall not have been married. And from and after the death or second marriage of my said wife I give all my personal estate unto all my children equally the shares of my sons to be absolutely vested at my death and the shares of my daughters on their attaining the age of 21 years or marrying. And I give the share or shares both original and accruing of any daughter dying under that age without having been married to the other or others of my children conformably to the preceding trust. And I empower my trustees to apply the whole or part of the income of the presumptive share of shares of any of my daughters who for the time being shall not have attained the age of 21 years or sooner married in her or their maintenance and education or otherwise for her of their benefit. And I authorise my trustees at their discretion at any time before my personal estate becomes distributable under the trust of this my will to advance to any one or more of my children who shall have attained a vested interest or bested interests in a share or shares of my personal estate any part not exceeding half of the estimated amount of such share of shares. I also authorise my trustees to compound and compromise debts and claims and settle my accounts and affairs in such manner as may appear to them most advantageous. And I declare that they shall be chargeable only to the extent of their respective actual receipt and be exempt from responsibility for involuntary ? and be entitled to reclaim out of my estate all disbursements and expenses incident to the execution of my will. I devise all the real estate of or to which I may be possessed or entitled at my death to my said sons Robert and James and their heirs upon trust to sell the same and stand possessed of the proceeds of such sale and of the income arising therefrom before sale upon trusts corresponding to the trusts hereuntofore declared with reference to my personal estate. And I devise all lands and heredits which shall be vested in me as a mortgagee or trustee unto my son Robert his heirs executers administrators and assigns subject to the trusts and equities affecting the same respectively.

Proved at Norwich, the sixth day of May 1874 by the oaths of Elizabeth Ellett, widow, the relict, and Robert Ellett, the son, the surviving executers but as to the said Elizabeth Ellett during widowhood only, to whom administration was granted. 

 
This is the last will and testament of me Robert Ellett of Cirencester in the county of Gloucester Solicitor. I give all my estate and effects unto Elizabeth my wife absolutely. I appoint my said wife and John Mullings of Cirencester aforesaid Solicitor Executrix and Executor of this my will. I devise all estates vested in me as a trustee or mortgagee unto the said John Mullings subject to the trusts and equities affecting the same. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this fifteenth day of November 1880.
